Dachstein Glacier overview

High-altitude skiing

The Dachstein Glacier offers glacier skiing in the Ski Amade ski region to the south of Salzburg. As well as assured snow, the Dachstein Glacier provides stunning scenery across the Dachstein rock faces and the local glaciers. Mountaineering is also very popular on the Dachstein Glacier as is ski touring.

The local ski region

The Dachstein Glacier is located above Ramsau am Dachstein and the nearby ski region of Schladming – offering guaranteed snow for guests to both ski holiday resorts.

Dachstein Glacier skiing

Ski mountaineering

Offering snow-sure glacier skiing, the Dachstein Glacier is a great addition to the Ski Amade ski region that is located south of Salzburg. Looking across from Schladming to the Dachstein mountain range the peaks are bewilderingly impressive – rich praise in a region that offers beauty around most corners. Riding up the cable car to the Dachstein Glacier is a dramatic experience whilst the lookout points at the top-station on the Dachstein Glacier offer incredible views. Skiing and snowboarding on the Dachstein Glacier takes place with 4 additional lifts whilst many of those on the glacier are embarked on ski tours or mountaineering excursions.

Additional skiing

There is no ski route back to the base-station due to the sheer rock faces that border the Dachstein Glacier but this allows visitors the chance to experience the Südwandbahn cable car again. Additional skiing is possible in Ramsau as well as extensive terrain in Schladming. Ski buses run from these areas to the Dachstein Glacier. For anyone visiting the area then the Dachstein Glacier is a must visit area, if just for the views!
