Mutters skiing
Mutters is a traditional, authentic farming village on the plateau above Innsbruck. In recent years the lifts and mountain facilities have seen large upgrades and the ski area is now lift and ski piste linked into the neighbouring ski area of Gotzens. Mutters is ideal for family ski holidays with a long gentle ski piste running back down to the Mutters base-station, whilst there is a childrens ski area at the top-station of the Mutters gondola. The skiing in the Gotzens section of the linked ski area is steeper and tougher whilst the Axamer Lizum ski area offers further terrain.
There is a free ski bus in Mutters that takes skiers and snowboarders to Axamer Lizum. The Axamer Lizum ski area is a bigger, higher and a more diverse ski area and has some great off-piste. You can ski out of the Axamer Lizum ski area back into Mutters but not in the other direction. Mutters is a part of the Innsbruck ski region and has direct tram links into Innsbruck as well as the ski holiday resort of Fulpmes-Schlick. The Stubai Glacier is located down the valley and is linked by ski bus for skiing over 3200m.
