Skiing in the snowiest part of the Alps
Warth-Schrocken overview
Located at just under 1500m Warth is the highest ski holiday resort in the Bregenzerwald ski region and together with Schrocken it forms the Warth-Schrocken ski region. The Warth-Schrocken ski area gets more snow than any other ski area in the Alps – this really is the snow capital of the Alps.
The skiing on-piste is good for beginners and intermediates but the off-piste is where the better skiers and snowboarders head given the huge quantities of snow.
Warth-Schrocken skiing
The ski area of Warth-Schrocken in Bregenzerwald is top of the charts for snow fall in ski holiday resorts in the Alps. Zurs am Arlberg, just over the mountain comes in second, whilst Damuls to the east of Warth-Schrocken in the Bregenzerwald ski region gets the most snow at resort level. So broadly speaking, if you need snow then this area beats areas 1.5km higher out of sight. The ski holiday resort of Warth offers the best access to and from the skiing whilst Schrocken has a ski route back to the resort but no lift out of the resort.
The main beginners ski area is located in around the mid-point on the road linking Warth-Schrocken, whilst much of the Warth-Schrocken ski area is good for beginners. Intermediates have a fair range of skiing whilst there are several black pistes some which are actually not too demanding. For better skiers and snowboarders the off-piste is the big attraction in the Warth-Schrocken ski region. There are some superb off-piste ski routes from the Saloberkopf peak. Warth is a pretty resort that is located at the east end of the Warth-Schrocken in the Bregenzerwald ski region.
